Adult Karate

Experience the discipline, focus, and physical mastery of authentic traditional karate. Whether you are stepping onto the mats as an adult beginner or returning to martial arts, our 2-hour classes provide an intensive environment where fitness, mental fortitude, and combat precision meet.

At Bristol School of Karate, our curriculum follows the official 2026 Karate Syllabus, grounding students in classical Japanese fundamentals. Training spans foundational line work (Kihon), traditional forms (Kata), practical self-defence applications (Bunkai), and full technical sparring. Students progress systematically through ten traditional belt ranks, developing crisp strikes, powerful kicks, low stances, and real-world defensive counters.

  • Authentic Kihon & Striking Foundations: Drilling classical stances (Zenkutsu, Sanchin, Hangetsu Dachi), devastating punches, elbow strikes, and blocks to build functional core balance and muscle memory.

  • Comprehensive Kata Mastery: Structured progression through foundational forms (Taikyoku Sono Ichi through San), intermediate Pinan series, and advanced master katas like Saifa, Bassai Dai, Seiunchin, and Garyu.

  • Dynamic Advanced Kicking Mechanics: From foundational front and round kicks up to jumping tobi geri, rolling thunder (kaiten geri), and tornado kick strikes (tatsumaki senpuu kyaku).

  • The Black Belt Journey & The Cauldron: Rigorous grading standards testing line work, pad power, and kumite, culminating in our ultimate black belt final test: the 6-person Cauldron.
